Description of Suffix:
R - Standard Type for Universal Use

Other salient points to be noted:
• The maximum transmissible torque is 2 times the specified nominal torque
• Bidirectional acting backstop for assembly with connecting parts with rollers

* Keyway according to DIN 6885
** Z - Number of tapped holes G on pitch circle T

Features:
• Capable of handling nominal torques up to 100 Nm
• Available with bores up to 35 mm
• Unlike a standard freewheel, which transmits torque in only one rotational direction, the Irreversible Lock IR allows the driving part to drive the shaft in both directions of rotation
• However, it provides a locking action against any reverse torque coming from the driven side, regardless of the direction of this reverse torque

Application as: Bidirectional Acting Backstop

Application Example:
• In the example shown, a control or shut-off valve is adjusted open or closed using a hand wheel
• The Irreversible Lock prevents any uncontrolled movement of the valve caused by pressure from the flowing medium in the pipeline
• Irreversible Locks are not limited to manually operated valves; they can also be used with motorised actuators
• In motorised applications, the main benefit is that the torque motor only needs to provide the adjusting torque (typically low), as the Irreversible Lock absorbs all standing and sudden reverse torques

Operation:
• The system is symmetrical, so this operation works the same way in both rotational directions
• If external forces from the machine attempt to rotate the centre body (via the shaft), the centre body is locked to the fixed housing by the locking rollers
• Each locking roller is responsible for locking movement in one direction of rotation
• The irreversible lock prevents unintended shifts or displacements from occurring
